The short version: Lantern is a local-first app. Your kits, supplies, household size and plan checklist are stored only on your device. We do not run a server that holds them, we cannot see them, and they are never uploaded, sold, or shared. There is no account and no login.
Nothing personal. We do not ask for your name, email, phone, address, or location, and there are no user accounts. A list like “water × 12 gallons” identifies no one. You type in your supplies, and they live in your device's local storage.
Lantern never requests your location or your contacts. The family plan steps are generic reminders you check off — you keep the actual phone numbers and meeting places wherever you choose (we suggest paper).
Expiry and gear-check reminders are scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. No push server is involved and no token leaves your phone.
If you unlock Pro, the transaction is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive or store your card details; we only receive an anonymous confirmation that a purchase was made.
Because your data lives only on your device, you are always in full control: export the PDF, or wipe everything with “Start fresh.” Deleting the app deletes the data. There is nothing for us to delete on your behalf, because we never had it.
